Research surrounding this phenomenon has offered many reasons as to why this might be the case, including fear of missing out (more affectionately called FOMO) among their friend groups at home, perceived difficulty of graduating on time with their majors, and a perception that study abroad doesn’t offer career/personal benefits.
In a 2015 post on the ISA Student Blog, eight male students who studied abroad with ISA were interviewed to get their take on why men should study abroad.
