One of the most noticeable and unique qualities of Prague is the respect it has for history and culture. The city is one of the oldest in Europe and still contains businesses, architecture, cathedrals, and more that are over hundreds of years old. This is what really creates the richness of Czech culture. The people in America often respect the newest trends, newest designs, but here antiques and historical items are much more valued than the newest Apple product.
This Cathedral took over 600 years to complete. One of the greatest qualities of this city is that every building is preserved the best it can. Maintaining the integrity of all historical buildings throughout two world wars, and many years under communist rule is an impressive feat.
One of the most iconic buildings in Prague is the beautiful Astronomical Clock. Mostly the aesthetic appeal is what draws the crowd in, but ask any local and they will tell you the history of the clockmaker and the ironic way his work was appreciated.
Taking a minute to look at all the details of one building and imagining just how many people have walked by those doors and how many centuries it has stood through and seen is incredible. Prague really is a fairytale city.
Ultimately, the moment you begin to appreciate and admire the history along with the beauty of every building you see you can truly fall in love with the city.
The world awaits…discover it.
