Handmade Goods Highlight – Bamboo Pens

This fall we will be providing baskets of handmade items to some of our university partners to raffle off during study abroad fairs. The items come from local artisans in locations in which ISA hosts Service Learning programs. Keep an eye out for these at your campus study abroad fair.

Señor Milton – Arte Tropical
Eco friendly art and decor.
A native of San Jose, Costa Rica, Milton Salazar Rivera was looking for a job change in 1999. Almost accidentally, he came upon the world of crafts. Without having any previous experience, he started trying to create different types of products and in a leap of faith, quit his former occupation and dedicated himself full time to this activity.

He focuses on creating pieces that represent the fauna and flora of Costa Rica. Because of this, his products have been used by different brands to promote Costa Rica abroad.

He has taught workshops at companies, foundations, private institutions and communities, where he combines crafts with recycling in a way that encourages people to stimulate environmental awareness.
