A Day in the Life of a Student in Auckland

Jessica Muscella is a student at the University of South Carolina and an ISA Featured Photo Blogger. She is currently studying abroad with ISA in Auckland, New Zealand.

Ever wonder what its like to study abroad? Curious about New Zealand? Well, come with me on a typical day in Auckland, studying at Auckland University of Technology.  I promise lots of adventures do occur, but as for just a normal day, this is what it looks like!

8 a.m. Class

I know, 8 a.m. starts stink, especially abroad, but I only have it once a week, so it’s manageable.

10:30 a.m. Grocery Shopping/Park Wandering

Yep, you are living in another country so you’ll need to go grocery shopping.  What is even more essential is finding the cheapest place to buy them. My friend Anna and I made a day of it by taking a stroll through Cornwall Park on our way to the store, where we casually met up with lots of sheep.

3 p.m. Coffee Shop Dates

The study part of study abroad does actually happen. My way of dealing with this is trying new cafes around the city!

7 p.m. Family Dinner and Movie Night

Nothing better than having a family dinner with all the amazing friends you’ll make abroad and watch a good Halloween movie!

I hope you enjoyed this little peek into the daily life of a student abroad!

The world awaits…discover it.
