Eating Your Way Through Rome in 24 hours

Emily Myers is a student at Arizona State University and an ISA Featured Blogger. She is currently studying abroad with ISA in Prague, Czech Republic.

As Lizzie McGuire once wonderfully proclaimed, this is what dreams are made of.

When you are studying abroad in Prague and you discover a cheap flight to Rome, you book it. Yes, even if you only have 24 hours. While most of us could probably happily live out our lives in this Italian gem, you can definitely do it in a day. Even better, it gives you a great excuse to come back again in the near future.

I truly love history, but it was Rome’s food that was calling my name. Wherever you are in Europe, I promise the pizza is worth the flight. My recommendation is to spend your evening seeing all the sites, as Rome comes alive at night and is truly stunning. Hit the Colosseum right before sunset (*perk: it is way less crowded at this time) and continue your journey from there. This leaves you with the day to get to know some Italians in the best way possible; by eating their food. Venture into tiny neighborhoods and down narrow streets and see what you can find. And, do not forget to finish every last delicious bite.

Here’s a peak at just a few of the things that I sampled in my 24-hour whirlwind of a visit; from Rome’s favorite street food to a vibrant market.

The world awaits…discover it.
