AUSTIN, TX – December 12, 2013 – International Studies Abroad (ISA) is pleased to announce a new partnership with Carroll College in Helena, Montana. Beginning Spring 2014, students participating in an ISA-ELAP Service Learning placement will be eligible to receive a U.S. transcript and earn college credit while abroad.
Upon application to an ISA-ELAP program, students can indicate their interest in receiving academic credit. Credit awarded will be based on two factors: The number of contact hours accrued at the host organization as well as successful completion of the ELAP Portfolio. The portfolio consists of individual reflective essays, guided group discussions, a log of hours and a final reflective essay about the student’s placement. If a U.S. transcript is required, a fee of $300 can be paid to facilitate a U.S. transcript, reflecting the up to 6 hours of academic credit earned.
“This partnership demonstrates both Carroll’s and ISA’s commitment to offering high quality academic and experiential programs abroad that encourage personal and professional growth, develop language proficiency and facilitate meaningful community engagement,” ISA President/CEO Gustavo J. Artaza said.“Carroll College’s tradition of high-quality academics combined with a strong commitment to community engagement will enhance and add academic value to the existing programs ISA-ELAP offers throughout the world”, Artaza said.
“Carroll College is excited to partner with ISA to offer select ELAP opportunities for credit in a variety of locations and areas,” Carroll College President Dr. Thomas Evans said. “We recognize the value of an ELAP experience and are proud to provide academic support and oversight for these transformative service-learning and internship experiences.”
