Barcelona: Celebrating the Crossroads of Europe

It’s a cultural melting pot: Being such a major cosmopolitan city with Spanish flair, Barcelona attracts travelers from all over Europe, many who fell in love with the city and quickly made it their home! For that reason, Barcelona reflects a little bit of several different cultures within Europe. You can visit “Creps Barcelona” for your morning French crepes fix, and stop by “The British Market” in the afternoon for a cup of tea and a biscuit or two. Feel like catching your favorite German soccer team? “Don Bratwarst” features just about every game in any league, and the fans will point you there! Even if you can’t get away to travel for the weekend, you can still escape to an entirely different country without leaving the city limits of Barcelona.

It’s a gateway to rest of Europe: The Barcelona El Prat de Llobregat International Airport (BCN) has outbound flights to an incredible amount of European cities! Yearly there are over 30 million passengers coming and going out of El Prat, and with several low-cost airlines like Ryanair, Vueling or Iberia, destination hopping is easy and cheap. Whether you are flying to Venice, Paris, Dublin or Prague, you are just a quick cab ride to an easy flight out of BCN!

New international excursion: Starting in the Spring of 2013, the ISA Barcelona programs will be offering their first international excursion for all semester and Summer programs. The South of France tour will be a multi-day excursion to four cities known as “the jewels of Southern France.” As always, semester students will also have the opportunity to participate in the optional 6-day excursion to Morocco.
