If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast.
I just love that Hemingway quote. It pretty much sums up my experience. Wherever you go for the rest of your life it stays with you. Though I’m tired, and I’m beginning to pack my bags, ready to go home, this is an experience that will never leave me.
I’ve learned French. I’m proficient in another language! How many Americans can say that?! (Not too many, to be honest) I have a whole new outlook on life and culture. I can now take the Paris metro to class without looking at any signs. I can also now make ratatouille and gratin the authentic way.
The weather here is only slightly better than raining all the time now, and I’m ready to go home to a much-needed hot summer. I’m so glad I did this. I just keep wondering about all the things I would have missed if I had chickened out. But now, I will always have Paris.
