Barcelona is a wonderful city that has a lot to offer. But sometimes, you find yourself needing a break from the hustle and bustle of the inner city. If that’s the case, take the R5 train from Place Espanya, and in an hour you will find yourself at the foot of the Montserrat mountain peak. To get to the top of the mountain you can go by train or by cable car. If you are not scared of heights, I would recommend the cable car. The trip takes about 5 minutes to go from the ground up 1,350 meters to the Montserrat Monastery. Once you arrive at the top, be sure to take in the views of the gorgeous peaks.

My favorite part of the day was the cable car ride. It had beautiful views the whole time, and it was fun to watch the car get farther and farther away from the station. The cable cars are painted a bright and sunny yellow, and they have windows on all sides so that you won’t miss the view in any direction.
