Carnival is one of the most elaborate and renowned festivals around the world. A trip to Venice is nothing short of a magnificent experience that will give you a taste of Venetian history and culture.

Venice is located in Northeast Italy. Notorious for its streets made out of water, Venice is one of the most popular destinations for tourists in the world. The city consists of over 117 islands and is connected by hundreds of canals in a shallow lagoon.

The magical celebration of Carnival lasts the entire month of February with over the top concerts, pageants, and contests. People from all over come to experience the elaborate masks, costumes and parades that take place in the heart of Venice; Piazza San Marco.

Historically, the celebration originated from a Venetian victory against Ulrico. The remembrance of this victory also parallels with the holiday right before Lent. In the 17th century, Venetians became so devoted to partying that Carnival lasted six months out of the year. Only recently was this festival revived into its shorter celebration.

Venice’s past comes alive during this celebration. With such rich roots connecting the past and present, Venice Carnival is a glimpse into history. Its magic and beauty is felt year round.

The world awaits…discover it.
