Signing up for the photography course while studying abroad in Barcelona, Spain, was the best decision I could have made. If you are ever considering trying something new, your study abroad program is the perfect opportunity to do so. You may be thinking, but I know nothing about taking pictures! Well, have no fear, because not one person in the class did. And what better place to practice than in one of the prettiest cities in the world?
Not only did I learn how to use my camera, but I also had the opportunity to go to different places around Barcelona with my class taking photos, rather than being in a classroom for two hours a day. And in my opinion, going out around the city is a way better to learn while in a different country than sitting at a desk. Because the professor is obviously familiar with Barcelona, we went to places I never would have gone to on my own because I didn’t know they were there. After six weeks, I left Barcelona with a stunning collection of photos I never would have captured alone with my I-Phone.
Along with learning several photography techniques, the class also covered information on over a dozen famous photographers. Whether you’re interested in fashion, sports, landscapes or just taking shots of a variety of topics, there are photographers out there who cover it all. There is something that appeals to everyone.
So expand your artistic skills and sign up for photography! Even if you find it isn’t your thing, you are guaranteed to bring home some cool photos capturing all your study abroad memories.
The world awaits…discover it.
