Waiheke’s Top Beaches

After a month of exploring the island, I have found the top beaches of Waiheke!

  1. Little Oneroa Beach

Oneroa village, the heartbeat of Waiheke Island is centrally located next to the Matiatia ferry. The village is filled with specialty shops and fine dining restaurants which all overlook the incredible view Oneroa beach. Little Oneroa beach is a five-minute downhill stroll from the main village. At Little Oneroa beach one can enjoy quaint, quiet beach with some fish n’ chips from the local market located on Little Oneroa beach.

  1. Palm Beach

Palm beach, my favorite, is a small plot of sand set between two cliffs. On a clear day over the water you are able to outline nearby islands. This beach is especially quiet as it is distant from any shop or restaurant. On the beach there are barbecues and kayaks available for anyone to enjoy their day on Palm Beach!

  1. Onetangi Beach

Onetangi beach is the largest stretch of white sand in Waiheke. In the mornings you will find many people walking their dogs on the beach. At night many people wander into one of the two beachfront restaurants on Onetangi to enjoy a meal while watching the sun set.

  1. Rocky Bay Beach

Rocky Bay is another small, secluded, rocky beach off the beaten path. In Rocky Bay you can sit on the park benches and watch all the sailboats venture in and out of the harbor. After taking in the view of Rocky Bay one could start a hike from the nearby sports park or visit one of the three surrounding vineyards!

The world awaits…discover it.
