A Day in the Life of a Florence Student

Sarah Majestro is a student at West Virginia University and an ISA Featured Photo Blogger. She is currently studying abroad with ISA in Florence, Italy.

Waking up in Florence never gets old. My morning always starts at my favorite coffee shop. Every morning the barista, Mariella, greets my roommates and me by name and with a smiley, “Ciao!”

Then its off to class, where we often leave the classroom to see Florence’s most beautiful works of art.

After class, students can be found wandering the streets of Florence, taking in the culture and art, or maybe doing a little bit of shopping at an open air market.

And of course there’s always time for a quick gelato fix!

One of the best parts of living in Italy is the food. Dinner is an event here, full of laughter and lots of food.

And finally, my absolute favorite thing to do in Florence: watching the sunset at Piazzale Michelangelo. Every night hundreds of people climb up to this amazing overlook of the city and sit together on steps while the sun sets behind Florence. Coming up here with some good friends and taking in this amazing view with soft music in the background as made for my favorite nights abroad.

The world awaits…discover it.
