If you are studying abroad in Ireland, there is a particular destination you must visit. The Cliffs of Moher, located in County Clare, reach a maximum height of 214 meters (702 feet), and are about five miles long. They are featured in well-known movies such as Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince and The Princess Bride; although it might be best not to watch the latter right before visiting, as it may serve as a reminder of just how tall and looming these cliffs really are.
At only around an hour and a half’s drive away from Galway, the Cliffs of Moher are a must see.
They are stunning from any angle, although the above picture shows the most popular view of the cliffs for photographs.
We lucked out this past weekend in Ireland; the weather was on our side, and the sun stayed high in the sky for our day at the Cliffs of Moher.
The water is exceptionally blue, but be aware of not getting so transfixed with the incredible view that you fall right in.
While the sun may have been working in our favour, the wind made a dramatic appearance, which caused many of our pictures to turn out like this. But it’s all part of the fun and unpredictability of Ireland’s weather.
After the adrenaline rush that followed the walk along the cliffs, we thought it was important to treat ourselves to Murphy’s ice cream at the café in the Visitor’s Center. The popular and delicious flavour of the group was Dingle Sea Salt; it tasted exactly like that mouth-watering ice cream we handmade in science class all those years ago.
The world awaits…discover it.
