When in Ireland, if you get a three-day weekend, take full advantage of it. There are many places to visit in Ireland, but there are three specific places that you absolutely will not regret visiting if you have the time. Since I was studying at the University of Limerick, I was able to reach all of these locations by bus. If you are in Limerick, all you have to do is go to the bus station in town, and there is a direct bus to these location, which is great because you will probably be waking up early to take the buses so you can catch some ZZZ’s on the way.
Friday: Killarney National Park

The bus from Limerick to Killarney is about a two hour travel time. In Killarney, there are several shops and a bustling downtown to explore, but the best part in my opinion is the national park. Because I was short on time when I got there, I ended up taking a carriage ride through the park with a fellow explorer that cost us 20 Euro each. That may seem a little expensive, but if you don’t have a ton of time, it’s the best way to see all the highlights of the park.
Saturday: Paddywagon Tour – Cliffs of Moher

Ah, the Paddywagon tour. If you are looking to go see the Cliffs of Moher, taking the Paddywagon tour is the way to go. It costs 25 Euro a person, and you really get to see it all. The bus picks you up around 9:00 at one of the two Limerick locations (although Paddywagon tours are in several different cities) and brings you to the Cliffs of Moher, Doolin, Burren, and Bunratty Castle. For 25 Euro, you can’t beat that with a stick.
Sunday: Galway

The bus ride from Limerick to Galway is about two and a half hours but it is very worth it. When you get to Galway, you will want to look for Quay Street, this is where everything will be going on. You can find just about any shop you would ever need or want to go into along with some great pubs and restaurants. My suggestion for dining in Galway is to find a seafood restaurant. You can’t go wrong with seafood in Ireland, especially the salmon.
The world awaits…discover it.
