During my first few days in Australia, my time there felt like a few weeks. I flew into Brisbane and I went straight to a coastal town called Byron Bay. From staying in a hippie hostel to surfing on a beautiful coast to holding a koala named Morton, there were too many views too count. Now, I started with my time by seeing the eastern-most part of the Australian mainland. As we drove up to the top of the coast in a van, I saw the Byron Bay Lighthouse at the top and I immediately knew that the lighthouse was a view worth keeping.
After getting to the top and walking around the lighthouse, a group of us hiked down to the edge of the coast…the true eastern-most point.
Over the next few days, we walked around the town, surfed, talked to locals and so on. It is always interesting to see how different cultures operate. After leaving Byron, we left to go to a zoo near Brisbane. This was awesome because we I got to pet a few kangaroos and hold a koala.
After we left the zoo, we drove to the Brisbane airport where we finally left for our cities…our new homes for the next few months. I flew to Newcastle and that’s where my next adventure is unfolding.
