When I decided I was going to study abroad this semester, my biggest concern was missing the majority of the ski season. Taking a semester abroad would directly impose on my ability to enjoy the luxury of living in the Rockies, especially considering that I moved to Colorado to go to school in a location where I could easily take advantage of mountain access,
However, when I discovered that the program in Valparaiso had a late start this semester, it seemed pointless to continue searching for potential destinations. Since I’ve made the decision and committed to Chile, I have been enjoying the grace period between finishing last semester and the start of my program, with no obligations other than getting organized for my departure.
Most of said organization revolved around obtaining my student Visa, which granted was a grueling process, and for months it seemed as if filling out Visa applications was a passionate hobby of mine. In the days that I was not skiing, I was working on that process, and after having successfully obtained my Visa, a large weight has been lifted off my shoulders.
The only thing that is left before I fly to Chile in a week, is to actually pack, which frankly is much more intimidating to me than the Visa process. This series of photos, ranging from art galleries to back-bowls, and taken between my home in Washington, D.C. and Colorado, is representative of what I have been doing with my personal time off, and of the aspects of my lifestyle which will be missed while abroad. I can’t wait to discover the new activities and places that will fill my time and travels.
