I have had the wonderful privilege of being able to call England my home for the past 3 months. In this time, I’ve been able to walk by the Houses of Parliament on a daily basis, see the transformation of Oxford Street from being a classic busy street in London to a happily chaotic street filled with dancing Christmas lights, baubles, and laughing people as they walk out of stores clutching Christmas presents. I’ve witnessed this country morn and pray for the tragedies in France, our neighbors that are so close in distance and in heart. I personally have been stretched as I adjusted to the culture in England. From learning to love public transportation and barely noticing when I walk 10 miles in one day, to seemingly re-learning how to research for and write papers for school. To say that one falls in love with England once they have been here is an understatement. Personally, I have been able to make friends from all over the world, visit the original places where people like C.S. Lewis, Jane Austen, and William Shakespeare spent many hours developing stories that would one day change the course of literature worldwide, learn about the trials, tribulations and victories of two World Wars, be surrounded by an overwhelming amount of theatre, art, and music, and see beautiful countrysides and busy cities that are almost back to back. These 10 snapshots are just a few of the thousands that were taken over the course of 3 months in an attempt to capture the uniqueness, beauty, and wonder that is England.
