Connect with Christchurch in a whole new way through the University of Canterbury arts internship program. Get experience in a broad range of fields within the arts and humanities by working with local companies, organizations, and community initiatives.
Students can put their classroom learning to use by spending 75 hours over the course of a semester doing an internship in fields such as the arts, communication, design, environmental studies, event planning, or numerous other fields. Internship hours are flexible and can be tailored to fit the needs of the organization as well as the requirement of the student’s other courses, as students will enroll in three courses at the University of Canterbury in addition to the internship. Students can choose between individual and group-based community projects.
While interning and studying, students will be able to explore the amazing adventures around Christchurch, which include everything from surfing and skiing to mountain biking and hiking. Students can spend afternoons by the Avon River or wander the many green spaces of the “Garden City.” The Re:Start shopping area is a favorite local spot to enjoy a coffee, a pastry, or an up-scale dinner at one of the city’s many restaurants. Christchurch is the perfect starting place for exploring the gorgeous South Island and a fantastic location for gaining professional experience through an internship.
