Hey management students! Want to do an internship abroad, take courses at a highly ranked university, and experience New Zealand adventure? If so, check out this internship opportunity through the University of Waikato!

The Triple Crown accredited Waikato School of Management now offers study abroad students the chance to participate in a 20-week internship while studying at the University of Waikato in Hamilton on New Zealand’s North Island. Get hands-on experience with a local company or organization in accounting, economics, finance, human resources, supply chain management, marketing, strategic management, international management, or tourism. Interns have been placed with start-up companies, major corporations, nonprofit organizations, government branches, and many other groups.

While interns are required to complete a minimum of 150 hours of work over the 20 weeks, the placement schedule can be tailored to fit the organization’s needs and the student’s other coursework. Students generally take three other courses while participating in the internship.

As part of the internship placements, students connect with a mentor from the management faculty who will oversee their work and assess their participation. Interns meet with their mentors once every two weeks to discuss projects and progress.

Waikato beaches

Outside of the internship placement and other classes, students can explore the Waikato region of green rolling hills, surfing beaches, rivers, hiking trails, and glow worm caves. Go black water rafting through the Waitomo caves, tour the Hobbiton Lord of the Rings set in Matamata, or take a weekend trip to nearby Auckland for concerts, festivals, and international cuisine. Waikato is the perfect place to discover New Zealand culture, particularly the history of the indigenous Maori people and welcoming Kiwi hospitality, as well as take advantage of New Zealand’s famous outdoor adventures.
