There’s no doubt that Paris is one of the fashion capitals of the world. Packing for this chic city may seem daunting, but here’s what I learned this summer that may help.
Keep It Simple
Trying to ‘blend in’? A neutral wardrobe may be the best route to take. It is true that Parisians usually wear black and other neutral colors such as gray, navy, and beige. However, it is not entirely true that they never wear any bright colors. A scarf or a cardigan with a pop of color can really mix up a neutral outfit. Also, don’t pack specific outfits; pack single pieces that can easily be combined to create many different outfits.

Don’t Overdo It
The most important thing I learned about style this summer is that I honestly did not need a blow dryer or half of the makeup I brought. The scary thing about Parisians is that they are so naturally beautiful. Depending on the ‘arrondisment,’ it may not be common for someone to leave the house completely made up with perfect hair. I became comfortable in my own skin and learned that my curls are just as beautiful the second day.

Be Confident, Be Yourself
In the end, no one is going to take time out of their busy day to judge what you are wearing. They will not bat an eye if your hair is not perfect or if you didn’t cover up your breakout. If you are confident with what you are wearing and how you look, no one has a reason to second guess you. Paris taught me to be comfortable and confident with how I naturally look. It was an unexpected lesson coming from a city full of beautiful people.
