2 Ways to Spend This Summer in New Zealand!

Spend six weeks this summer exploring New Zealand, participating in an environmental internship and earning up to 8 US credits!

Massey University in Palmerston North on New Zealand’s northern island is offering students the unique opportunity to explore both New Zealand’s north and south islands for two weeks and then complete an environmentally-related internship while earning two courses-worth of credit in the process!

New Zealand Mountain Spring
The program starts by exploring New Zealand. Students will hike mountains, climb volcanoes, try new foods, meet locals and discover Kiwi culture. This trip will give students an opportunity to see swaths of the country rarely experienced by visitors, while learning about New Zealand’s unique geology and ecology. After exploring glaciers, volcanoes, mountains, rivers, oceans and geothermal areas, students will head to Napier, a sea-side city in the Hawke’s Bay region on the north island, where students can intern for a month with government agencies, non-profit organizations, wildlife sanctuaries, wineries or a number of other organizations connected to the environment. As an intern, students will learn about these industries and how New Zealand’s businesses work to protect the natural singularity of their nation.

Each internship placement is between 120 and 160 hours of work and the program includes housing and transportation to and from the internship location. Students will finish off their trip with a weekend on Massey University’s Palmerston North campus, hanging out with other students from the program while enjoying a final few days in New Zealand.

Students also have the option of participating in the Expedition portion of the program or the Internship part of the program—just spending two weeks traveling New Zealand or just spending a month interning—whatever works best for you!
