Summer study abroad program deadlines are just around the corner and so are scholarship deadlines for summer study abroad programs.
This #ThrowbackThursday post brings back and updates a post from February 2013 about FAQ’s for Summer Study Abroad Scholarships available through ISA.
Take a look and be sure to apply!

With summer programs just around the corner, here are a few FAQs about the ISA Summer Scholarships that will make your application process a little bit easier.
When is the deadline?
The deadline to apply for the ISA Diversity Scholarship and the Michaela Farnum Memorial Scholarship is February, 28th. Two $1,000 ISA Diversity Scholarships and eight $1,000 Michaela Farnum Memorial Scholarships are offered each summer. All scholarship materials must be postmarked by the February 28th deadline. That’s only a few short weeks away, so get started on your application TODAY if you haven’t already!
Do you accept scholarship application materials via email or fax?
No, we do not accept any scholarship application materials electronically. All components of your scholarship application must be mailed to our office.
Can I apply for more than one scholarship?
Yes, absolutely! If you meet the eligibility requirements for both of these scholarships, then you are welcome to apply for them both. On your application, please check the box for each scholarship you’d like to be considered for. Applying for both scholarships will certainly increase your chances of winning, however, you can only be awarded one scholarship per term.
I already submitted my transcript for my ISA program application; do I need to submit another transcript for my scholarship application?
No, you don’t need to submit another transcript if ISA already has your most recent official transcript from your initial application. Email your program manager and request that a copy of your transcript be added to your scholarship application once it’s received.
Do I have to be on Financial Aid to apply for these scholarships?
The ISA Diversity Scholarship is merit based, therefore you do not have to be on financial aid to be eligible. You are, however, encouraged to submit financial aid documents if you have them, but they are not required. The Michaela Farnum Memorial Scholarship is a merit and need based scholarship, so the supporting financial aid documents are required. You can print the Student Aid Report from your FAFSA account online and your home university’s award letter from your university student account online.
Any tips for making my scholarship application stand out against the rest?
Take the time to write a thoughtful essay and a comprehensive resume. These two components of your scholarship application really give you a chance to shine, so why not make the most of them?
Don’t forget to check out our updated Scholarships page on the ISA website. There, you’ll find the complete Eligibility Requirements and Application, along with our new Scholarship FAQ!
Best of luck!
