Begin at the Piazzale Michelangelo, and hike up the old castle walls to discover a wondrous view of the city, cliff-side restaurants and a fun night life adorned by locals reveling in the sun setting on the city. Continue hiking up for an ever broader view and walk through the The Basilica of San Miniato al Monte.
Then, after seeing Florence from afar, travel up and look down on the city from the atop the Duomo. Although the stairs leading to the top are quite claustrophobic, the view is well worth it. Make sure to go early in the morning or in the later afternoon, in order to avoid long lines. You can also climb up the bell tower that is next to the Duomo, which I heard is also an amazing view.

Finally, use the public transportation to travel to the town of Fiesole. This adorable little town has a path that leads to a medieval church, and another grand view of Florence. This is the most remote, but epic view out of the three locations. This took about an hour, and you can view old rooms occupied by monks!

Each awe-inspiring view made me fall even more in love with the city I spent almost a month living in. Each change of perspective helped me see things I wouldn’t have just by walking through the streets of Florence.
