Glasgow is a city rich in history and contemporary culture just begging to be explored. The official slogan is “Scotland with Style” and it’s not hard to tell why.

1) Glasgow was named a UNESCO Music City. With hundreds of live music events taking place each week across all genres, your ears will thank you later.
2) Ever wanted to wear a kilt and not be made fun of for it? Well, in Scotland you can! Traditional dress aside, Glasgow is known in the UK as a major shopping destination second only to London in the UK.
3) Glasgow means “dear green place,” a fitting name for a beautiful city. The urban landscape is a mix of Victorian and modern buildings, and was recently designated a UK City of Architecture and Design.
4) Glasgow may be Scotland’s largest city, but getting around is a breeze. The city has a small metro and excellent bus system. Most ISA students walk to class each day, as the University of Glasgow dorms are within a 10-minute walking to the main campus and close to the city center.

5) It is the host city of the 2014 Commonwealth Games. The games are the third largest sporting event in the world and are held every four years. Glasgow will welcome teams from the 71 Commonwealth of Nations members to town in 2014. Get ready to be a part of the action!
6) The University of Glasgow is over 500 years old..A member of the prestigious Russell Group of research universities, Glasgow has a reputation for academic excellence and is ranked ninth in the UK.
7) Study abroad students can choose courses from over 50 different subject areas such as Veterinary Sciences, Studio Art, Business and Pre-Med. Study abroad students are also eligible to enroll in one of the unique courses offered only to visiting students like learning to play the Bagpipes.
8) The University of Glasgow is ISA’s only program in the UK that offers Service-Learning for academic credit.
