I have been living in Salamanca for about one month now, and I finally feel like I have a good grasp on the city. In this post I’m going to share with you some of my favorite places that I like to go to in a typical day.

I spend a lot of my day at the University of Salamanca, where I take three Spanish classes. My school is so beautiful; it’s breathtaking. There are beautiful monuments everywhere that capture my attention, I sometimes find myself day dreaming out the classroom window just looking at the surrounding beauty. I start class at 9 am and finish around 1:30 pm, perfect time for lunch!
Favorite Place to Eat
The residencia, student residence, that I live in provides three meals daily. However, if I have a sweet tooth there’s only one place I like to go — Valor Chocolates. Valor is a popular restaurant in Spain known for its amazing sweets! They have ice cream, pastries, chocolates and churros. They also have delicious bocadillos (sandwiches) if you want something salty.

I like to order a chocolate shake on a hot day, to quench my thirst and cool me off.

This afternoon we had a chocolate shake, a plate of churros with a cup of hot chocolate and a ham and cheese bocadillo. Valor is located down the street from the University of Salamanca, so it’s the perfect place to grab something sweet on your way home from class.

Perfect Place to go on a Hot Day
After enjoying some sugar at Valor Chocolates, I like to relax and cool off from the hot day at la Piscina Municipal, a community pool located on Calle Ruiz Zorrilla.

I like to do laps here when I feel like getting some exercise, or I will just float in the water if I just feel like relaxing.
Once you get tired of treading water, there is a grass field that borders the pool. Many people lay out with their towels, books and snacks.

There are willow trees aligning the side of the pool to give you shade and help you cool off from the hot sun. The entry fee is pretty cheap too, only about 3 Euros per person for a whole day! Definitely worth it when you’re living in Salamanca for the summer.

This looks amazing! Might consider Salamanca for my year abroad in three years time :)
