As the stadium shakes and the crowd roars, soccer fans from around the world tremble with excitement and anticipation as the World Cup draws near. Never dormant, enthusiasm for what has become the world’s biggest international sporting championship boils and churns like magma under the earth, ready to burst with unbridled energy and patriotism as it explodes onto the shores of Brazil in 2014. Perfectly placed to take on the powerful yet festive spirit commanded by this epic soccer showdown, ISA has added a brand new course, World Cup 2014: Business, Culture and Sport, to our Summer 1 2013 Culture, Portuguese Language & Economics program in Florianópolis, Brazil.
The main goal of this course is to help students develop a deeper understanding and a greater appreciation for the intense and intriguing cultural reactions the World Cup brings out in people all over the globe, especially in Brazil. Whether you’re playing a casual game with friends, or attending the games Florianópolis’ signature club teams, Avaí or Figueirense, students will have plenty of opportunities to take part in the soccer action and are sure to experience the Brazilian passion for soccer.
