Back to Ireland, the Ol’ Emerald Isle!

Well, it looks like I am back on the Emerald Isle, only this time I am here as a full time student at the National University of Ireland at Maynooth. See, I came to Ireland for the last few days in December and beginning of January to visit friends. It was only a week’s stay and it was nothing but a tease. I knew instantly that I had to come back.

This is right on the quad!

So here I am at Maynooth, enjoying the beautiful town and the old buildings. That is one of my favorite things about Europe; the old churches and the castles. They are everywhere around here!

My favorite part so far is hands down the South Campus. That part of the school used to be St. Peter’s school for priests. Being such an important part of the Catholic Church, our campus has one of the prettiest churches I have ever seen.

The first week has been like a blast from the past. I feel like I’m in freshman year of college again; milling around, trying to learn the campus before classes start, and meeting new people and making new friends. It’s a rush! Luckily, everyone else is feeling the same as I am and we are all helping each other out.

Everyone has been so kind so far. I have met a few locals in the town just below campus and they are so helpful. I found myself a little turned around at the edge of town on one of my first days here. But as I said, people are more than happy to lead you in the right direction.

I’m so excited for the up coming weeks because there is so much to see in this country and I can’t wait to see it all!
