If you’re dreading the chill that winter will surely bring to North America over the coming months, you’re not alone. Why not head to the warmer climes of Latin America this January? Spoiler alert: January is summertime in much of the region. On that note, ISA is pleased to have several new options for students this year:
1. J-Term in Chile: Spanish Language & Chilean Culture
Dates: January 1, 2013 – January 26, 2013
Application Deadline: November 15th, 2012
The J-Term program is great for students that want to study abroad but have to be back for the start of the Spring semester in the U.S. Take courses at the Intermediate or Advanced levels at the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso (PUCV) and get a better grip on the Spanish language.
2. ELAP “Serve Santiago” Group Project in the Dominican Republic
Dates: January 2, 2013 – January 10, 2013
Application Deadline: November 15, 2013
ELAP’s first Alternative Winter Break Group Project, participants will assist the local branch of this organization in the Children’s Dining Hall and Learning Center, which aids children living in one of the poorest, most underserved neighborhoods in Santiago.
3. Argentina: Intensive Spanish Language Month
Dates: January 4, 2013 – February 2, 2013
Application Deadline: November 15, 2013
Enjoy the “Paris of Latin America” and study Spanish language language at all levels at the University of the Belgrano.
4. Costa Rica: Intensive Spanish Language Month
Dates: January 5, 2013 – February 3, 2013
Application Deadline: November 15, 2013
Study Spanish language at all levels at Veritas University while living in San Jose. January is festival season in Costa Rica, so be sure to take advantage.
