The Center of Shanghai.

Studying in Shanghai, the financial center and the most energetic city of China, can be a dizzying experience – especially when you are surrounded by both business and cultural opportunities. To that end, ISA is pleased to announce two new courses that will be offered to students participating on the Business & Chinese Language semester program at East China Normal University beginning Spring 2013.

  • Entrepreneurship – The history of Entrepreneurship has been around for a long time in China. With the country’s emergence as a world economic super power, all players are forced to consider new economic models. Especially in Shanghai, everybody seems to be an entrepreneur – or working to become one. Therefore, this course includes two parts of studies: the first part focuses on key concepts that comprise the academic subject of “Entrepreneurship” to provide a solid theoretical foundation for discussion. In the second part of the course, students are required to develop the idea for a venture of their own choosing in small teams.
  • Intercultural Development for U.S. Students Abroad – The purpose of this course is to provide the tools for students to reflect upon and analyze their exposure to cultural difference in China in an effort to make the most of the immersion experience and its transformative potential. Intercultural Development for U.S. Students Abroad will introduce students to a number of trends, theories, concepts and strategies that will help them better understand and advance through their own process of intercultural development during their time abroad.
