I don’t know about anyone else, but deciding where to study abroad was a pretty difficult decision. I changed my mind so many times, but every time I kept finding myself thinking back to Córdoba. I’ve been here for two months now, and haven’t regretted my decision for one single minute since we arrived. Don’t believe me? Let me give you six reasons why Córdoba is an excellent study abroad destination.
- The people are ridiculously friendly. Córdoba is known for being a city filled with some of the friendliest people in the world. Cordobeses are just so approachable, it makes it so easy to interact with, meet and become friends with Argentines, even if you speak only limited Spanish.
- City life and nature. I’ve really come to love city life here – everything is within close proximity; there’s so much to see and do constantly. But my heart really belongs out in nature, so that’s why I love the fact that while I’m living in the city, nature is only a short bus ride away to the beautiful sierras – there’s just so many places to go!
- The beautiful blend between old and new. One of the things that makes Córdoba so unique is the mix between the new and old. There is so much history in this city, not to mention the architecture that goes along with that. But at the same time, it’s a bustling, modern city, so things never feels dated.
- Location, location, location. Córdoba is situated almost perfectly in the middle of Argentina. Traveling to other parts of the country is so easy.
- It’s not a tourist trap. Unlike other cities, there are very few foreigners and so you’ll likely hear very little English. While the city isn’t devoid of tourism (it’s such a cool place, after all), Córdoba’s not swamped either. That means you get a truly authentic cultural experience living here, and the opportunity to really practice your Spanish.
- The buena onda. The phrase “buena onda” is used to describe a good vibe, and it’s my favorite thing about the city. There’s just something really beautiful that’s hard to describe, but easy to feel in the air. Why wouldn’t you want to come live and study in a city with such good vibes?
