ISA Panama: 3 Can’t-Miss Summer Excursions

Still considering where to study abroad this summer?

If you’re looking to get ahead or catch up on academic credit while improving your Spanish, then Panama is the place to study abroad this summer. With full access to Florida State University branch campus, pristine beaches and stunning colonial architecture, ISA’s summer programs in Panama City offer the perfect combination of academic classes and cultural experience.

While you’re there, you’ll be able to take advantage of three of the most popular ISA summer excursions.

Anton Valley

Located just two hours from Panama City, Anton Valley (el Valle de Antón) is the second-largest inhabited dormant volcano in the world. You’ll have the chance to see unique local fauna and hike through the picturesque valley. Don’t worry though—the volcano has been inactive for more than 5,000,000 years!

Panama Canal Railway

Covering nearly 50 miles and spanning more than 300 bridges and culverts throughout Panama, the Panama Canal Railway was the first transcontinental railroad ever built. You’ll ride the railroad with ISA to explore the canal basin, visit the Atlantic city of Colón and see the first city on the Pacific Ocean in which Christopher Columbus ever set foot.

Playa Blanca

How could any study abroad experience in Panama be complete without a trip to the beach? White sand, clear water and delicious local cuisine make Playa Blanca the ideal spot to relax from a long week of studying.
