New Faculty Seminars In Salamanca and Madrid

In March 2012, ISA will begin hosting seminars abroad for faculty members. The seminars will vary by topic and location, and focus on lectures by invited presenters and experts in the field related to the seminar theme. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn more about the curriculum at ISA host universities on location.

For the inaugural faculty seminar taking place March 12- 24th, Spanish faculty members are invited to meet in Salamanca, home to ISA’s first study abroad program in 1987. In Salamanca participants will attend lectures on the rise of the new Humanism, tour the University of Salamanca and it’s age-old library, in addition to the Cathedral of Salamanca, experiencing the rich culture and history our students have been enjoying for the past 25 years.

Participants will then travel to El Escorial and learn about its importance during the Golden Age, on their way to Madrid. In Madrid participants will visit hear lectures on key figures during the Golden Age at the Antonio de Nebrija University, with the opportunity to meet local faculty, followed by a special guided lecture on Velázquez through the Prado museum.

This opportunity is available for only a limited number of faculty, so we encourage you to sign up to secure your spot soon. To learn more about itinerary details and background information on seminar presenters and leaders, visit the ISA Faculty Seminar website.
