Kelsey Dias
University of Massachusetts Amherst
Valencia, Spain
Hello! I’m Kelsey Dias, currently enrolled in ISA’s study abroad program in the enchanting city of Valencia, Spain. As a third-year student at UMass Amherst majoring in environmental science, this journey marks a significant milestone for me. Despite having spent most of my life in a quaint Massachusetts town, my heritage is Azorean Portuguese. While I cherished visits to my family in the Azores during my upbringing, the opportunity to explore continental Europe is an exciting first for me. Valencia is the perfect backdrop for this adventure. As I immerse myself in the rich cultural tapestry of Europe, I am eager to unveil its hidden gems and simultaneously deepen my connection to my own heritage. Join me as I embark on this once-in-a-lifetime experience and share the stories that unfold along the way!

Sara Yates
University of Pittsburgh
Cusco, Peru
Hey there! I’m Sara, a sophomore studying emergency medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. I’m beyond excited to spend the semester in Cusco, Peru! I’ve wanted to study in Latin America since I started taking Spanish eight years ago. Bursting with Indigenous medicine and alpaca wool, Cusco is everything a pre-med student and avid crocheter could dream of! I’m excited to learn some new words and hike a few mountains. If all goes according to plan, I’ll be back in May with a great vocab and even better quads.
