Why I’m Adding Study Abroad to My Resumé

Processed with VSCO with av8 preset

As I am leaving Cape Town, I have come to realize why study abroad has become so important to me. I always knew I wanted to go during my college years, but this semester has been absolutely unreal.

During my four and half months here, I have hiked mountains,

The View from the Cable Car ride down from the top of Table Mountain; it was such an accomplishment to hike one of the famous hikes in Cape Town.

learned how to surf,

We took an hour surfing lesson at one of the famous surfing spots in Cape Town, Muizenberg. The perfect opportunity to check another item off the bucket list!

ate tons of exciting food,

At Old Biscuit Mill, there was a stand called Annie’s Cape Malay, where I got Cape Malay beans and rice – definitely would recommend!

and immersed myself into a brand-new culture all while working on my academics.

It was quite an adjustment coming from a school with 2,500 students to 25,000 students, but I wouldn’t change my decisions for the world. UTC is a great school and way of me broadening my horizons in an academic way.

I am adding study abroad to my resume because it gave me an opportunity to experience something I would never be able to in the comforts of my college in the states. Simple as that.
