¡Estoy lista! I am Ready for Salamanca!

“You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.”

¡Estoy lista!–I’m ready! Or rather–I’m almost ready.

The excitement of leaving has buoyed me through all of the preparations. I’ve finished Spring Semester at my home university (aside from an on-line course-eval). I’ve spent time with all of my close friends (cooking for a number of them). I’ve prayed about my trip with my InterVarsity Christian Fellowship staff-worker. I’ve got comfy, quality sandals, a number of light-weight and modest dresses that should be appropriate for Europe as well as for teaching. My flights are confirmed, I have several photo-copies of my passport, I have a cell-phone for travel, I’ve e-mailed my roommate a few times, I’ve sat through several lectures from my father about safety and precautions, my ISIC card is loaded, I’ve changed my sleeping habits, I have a load of laundry in the wash, a sticky-note of important numbers, and I’m smothering my cat Spock with snuggles.  Earlier today I went to enjoy my favorite local park, so I’ve made all of the goodbyes that I am able to. My main concerns now are the weight of my electrical converter and whether or not I can fit everything that I’d like to into my carry-on.

As I write this I am about 36 hours from leaving for the airport and very much excited, although I am becoming increasingly aware of the extent to which I will miss my loved ones. I greatly anticipate my upcoming adventures and I thank you for following them.

Hasta luego…
