Living in an Akha Hill Tribe Village in Chiang Rai, Thailand

Aleina Tanabe is a student at Regis University and an ISA Photo Blogger. She studied abroad with ISA in Bangkok, Thailand.

During my homestay I observed how to be truly resourceful, hospitable, and resilient. It was humbling to work beside the hill tribe peoples and learn about their culture and way of life.

Village tour!
Akha peoples in their traditional clothing celebrating Easter.
Walking down to the river.
Bath time! Much easier (and more efficient) then a bucket shower.
Traditional bamboo BBQ.
Lunch is served.
Another cooking technique using bamboo. Bamboo is seriously so versatile.
