I AM LIVING IN PARIS! AND I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT! One of my roommates quoted Ernest Hemingway this morning: “There are only two places in the world where one can live happily – at home and in Paris”. These past few weeks have been beautiful, and just to warn everyone…get ready for some cliché/corny “I heart Paris” talk in this blog. Because I heart Paris.
I will never forget the first time that I saw the Eiffel Tower. I realize that this monument is featured on every stereotypical postcard in France, but I must admit…I think it’s absolutely stunning. I actually felt a bit guilty as I walked through a grove of trees which were in the way of a quality view, so I attempted to avoid looking at it until it was standing proudly in front of my eyes at the Champ du Mars! I love it. I have yet to climb it, but that day will come. Preferably after a fresh dusting of snow in December…
My host family is TO DIE FOR, Claudia (host momma) and Luis (host papa). They are absolutely precious. Ever since I decided to be placed in a host family situation a couple of months ago, I was nervous about the possibility of living in a bad circumstance, so Claudia and Luis have been such a blessing! They are simply a sweet couple who truly appreciate life…and fabulous food. They truly care about us girls, and they make such a huge effort everyday to encourage, teach, and help us understand all we can.
One of the things that has surprised me so far is the lack of home sick-ness I have felt thus far. Paris is keeping me busy to the point where I don’t have enough time to be homesick! There is not a day that goes by where I am not attempting to plan out what I going to do from sunup to sundown, taking advantage of every moment. I am not anywhere near saying that I would like to return home…Paris definitely has my heart, and I am not quite sure when, if ever, I will get it back.
